Our Team

Dr. Katherine Sentjens:

Dr. Katherine Sentjens grew up in London, Ontario. She completed both her Bachelor of Science in the Honours Biochemistry Co-operative Program and her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo, graduating on the Dean’s Honours List.

During her last year of study, she learned alongside an ophthalmologist at Great Lakes Eye Center in Brantford and completed externships at several private eye care clinics in New Brunswick. While in school, she also had the opportunity to participate on a mission trip to Peru through VOSH, a non-profit organization, where she provided optometric care to those in need.

Dr. Sentjens and her husband James enjoy hiking with their dog Cali, spending time out on the water, and exploring their new home of Parry Sound. Dr. Sentjens is committed to providing excellent care to patients of all ages and is excited to join the team.

Stephanie La Rosa:

Licensed Optician. Stephanie attended Georgian College and graduated from the Opticianry Program with honours in 2015 and has completed the National Association of Canadian Optician Regulators exam. Stephanie is licensed to fit and dispense contact lenses and eyeglasses. She manages our dispensary, staying up to date with continuing education and eyewear trends. She is a proud member of The College of Opticians of Ontario and The Opticians Association of Canada.

Stephanie and her husband Mike enjoy travelling, playing and watching baseball (Go Blue Jays!!) as well as spending time on Georgian Bay with their daughter Sarah. Stephanie is passionate about education and helping others.

Kayla Triemstra:

Eyeglass Dispenser. Kayla helps with frame and lens selection in the dispensary and is also skilled in eyeglass repairs. She assists the Optometrist and Optician with various tasks. Kayla is also trained to use the pre-test instruments to gather pertinent information for the Optometrist prior to the eye examination.

Kayla and her husband Alex enjoy the outdoors, playing sports and camping with their two handsome boys. She excels in providing great customer service to everyone.

Michelle Pletzer:

Front Desk Coordinator. Michelle has over 30 years experience in the healthcare system as a Medical Administrative Assistant. She is a graduate of Humber College of Applied Arts & Technology and received the Doctor's Business Centre Ltd Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. She has a caring nature and enjoys dealing with the public and welcomes patients both in person and on the telephone. She maintains our appointment schedule, coordinates referrals, and keeps our front desk running in an efficient and friendly manner.

Michelle enjoys spending time with family and friends. She enjoys doing home renovations and travelling with her husband
